How to have a relationship with God

The bible teaches us that G-d created everything including humanity and even though G-d is perfect and good, man is not. G-d made mankind a free moral agent giving him the capacity to choose between good and evil. G-d’s holy book, the bible , is G-d’s revelation of Himself which tells us that we all have sinned and fallen short of His glory.

If I were to name some of the commandments, which is the moral basis of the law, there would be no one  who has not transgressed G-d’s  law to some degree. Sin is violating G-d and other people whether it be through serving other gods or misusing G-d’s name with the fuller application of failing to the love the L-rd with all of our heart. This commandment is followed by dishonoring our parents, murder which is equated to hatred, adultery which is likened to lusting with our  eyes, stealing, bearing false witness against our neighbor, and coveting another man’s property or wife which deals with wrong desires and motives.

This violation has caused us to be cut off or alienated from G-d eternally. In other words we are lost and separated from Him because He will not allow Himself being holy to cohabit with sin. Sin brings G-d’s wrath and his judgment not only here but also in eternity. The bible describes it as a place where the fire is not quenched and were there is great suffering.

At this point things seem hopeless but the good news is that G-d sent the Messiah who was without sin. His function was to intercede for people before G-d and how He did this was by providing His physical life as a type of exchange on our behalf therefore satisfying G-d’s justice.

He not only died for mankind making peace for us with G-d but He also rose from the dead and now He awaits to receive those who have placed their trust in Him. So now when we pass over to death our bodies will die but we will be present with Him and this is what the bible refers to as eternal life.

This all transpires when we make a heart felt confession of faith in Jesus as our Savior identifying Him as the one who removes sin and brings us peace with G-d. This also includes accepting Him as Lord in the sense that we now serve Him in obedience.

When we receive Jesus in this capacity  then He sends us a piece of heaven in the person of the Holy Spirit that comes to indwell the believer helping us to live our lives unto G-d.

This transaction of faith is followed by undergoing the rite of water baptism or immersion which is liken unto a watery grave. This action signifies new birth by physically commemorating the internal working of G-d which is declared and confessed through this act which communicates a spiritual reality of transformation in becoming a new person on the inside.

This whole process may seem like a simple transaction yet it is quite profound in application. Jesus is inviting you by saying ” Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

My friend if today you hear His voice calling you then please do not harden your heart but rather submit your life to the Shepherd of your soul. He loves you and will give you a peace that surpasses all understanding and a joy that is unspeakable. This is not to say that you will never weather any storms in your life but He does promise us that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

In closing I would encourage you to pray to Him to reveal Himself to you in a real and tangible way so as to believe upon Him. If you do this with sincerity and honesty of heart you will not be disappointed for we are encouraged metaphorically to taste and see that the L-rd is good. Amen
