Is Hell Real?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

It is easier for people to generally believe in the reality of heaven while avoiding the contemplation of the pitfalls of a hellish realm of existence for departed souls. The hell factor is a controversial subject which people try to avoid discussing and it is often treated with skepticism when taken seriously. The negative aspect of viewing hell by avoiding a non personal view usually comes as a response of indifference due to the possibilities of our individual accountability therefore this reaction is a defensive mechanism of self preservation.

Some people deal with hell by playing the game of ignorance like Schultz on Hogan’s Heroes who would emphatically state “I know nothing” when it was his job to secure knowledge and yet by his statement he attempted to rid himself of responsibility by this claim of ignoring the obvious. This wouldn’t get him off  the hook with the commandant nor will it bring us innocence before an all knowing God likewise.

The other group perhaps they know but by silencing the static of judgement in tuning off or turning down any resources that represents  biblical christianity is only a way for them to cope temporarily by escaping in dealing with the inevitable. Just watch a group of guys squirm and how fast they change the channel if a religious program comes on that has any preaching about sin. You might think they were watching a “quick draw” western based on their efficiency in handling the remote.

Anyway when dealing with sin and judgment there are warning signals that have a clear and distinct alarm system that is to awaken our conscious towards God in alerting us to the danger of eternal punishment Romans 2:14-16, 1John 4:18.

Whether we try avoiding the  alarm by ignoring its erratic modulation’s or by throwing it across the room out of irritation, it still does not remove the fact that it is time to get up .

The alarm clock like the internal noise of our conscious resonates attempting to wake us up to our moral condition and eternal destiny. We may try to counter respond to these impulses through ignorance or resistance in trying to remove the annoyance of this persistent bong yet this chime     will not be completely silenced until we no longer wake up to this life.

People have  a difficult time in believing the biblical descriptions of hell as something that would accurately be portrayed as a horrendous place of eternal torment and condemnation and it has caused people to formulate their own reality to hell.

Individuals  have removed the concept of hell altogether by declaring its non-existence or by stating if it does exist then it occupants are Satan and his entourage of demons along with the Hitler’s of our societies.

Others downplay its horrific scenes as something to be desired like a  “big party.”

Some take  a less serious view of its recourse by seeing it as only a temporal realm of intermediacy such as a purgatorial existence or maybe as a flash fire of flesh such as annihilation.

I recently watched a documentary on this concept of heaven and hell as related to near death experiences and based on the testimony of some of these secular and religious researchers they agreed that these subjects that they viewed and interviewed where having real experiences based on their perception and this death event could not be conclusively explained by preconceived expectations of death or by the hallucinatory agents of brain chemicals.

One of the secular researchers ruled out psychological interference as well because he thought it was counterproductive to fantasize about hell when you were dying.

Most of these near death experiences are becoming more frequent now due to the technological advances of reviving people and it is said that there are about 12-15 million Americans alone who have had these experiences.

One commentator says that most people undergo a religious transformation after these close encounters with death and hallucinations alone can not account for for these kind of changes.

Another researcher had done his work internationally interviewing over 300 cases and his research had indicated a consistency of testimony of  both the hellish and the heavenly descriptions as one would find in the biblical text.

As we approach the pagan festival of Halloween many people treat death/hell like they treat this holiday. Sometimes people don’t understand or care to understand about the reality of the spiritual realm behind this Satanic celebration. For them it is just a harmless game of fun  and yet like death there can be a reality and a hidden demonic element that masks itself from our plain view and “tricks” us into being deceived by thinking that the realm of Satan, demons, and hell are only the inventions of Hollywood and preachers.

Hell becomes trivialized and commercialized and before to long it no longer haunts our minds but rather it morbidly becomes desirous in establishing these new evil role models making “Harry Potter” out to be a hero or a desirable character.

In spite of this there are some who want to seriously consider the knowledge of the after life or  at least they are curious about it and this has led to the releasing of the popular books, 90 minutes in heaven and 23 minutes in hell.

I personally know a couple of close friends that had a NDE in which they experienced heaven and one lady was so awestruck by the experience that she didn’t want to come back and I remember her telling me how that her husband could not understand why she didn’t want to return to her earthly life with him and this same testimony coincides with the other people that were being interviewed on this program likewise.

The other person that I know was a pastors wife who had visited  heaven and had seen and talked to Jesus.

In many of these spiritual encounters people have claimed to have seen things that were associated with the apocalyptical literature of both the Old and New Testaments.

One other bit of evidence that substantiates these Near Death Experiences is that these people are quite in touch to the details of what is going on around them in the room while they are in a  comatose state. They can even describe details of what is going on outside of the room as their spirit is leaving their bodies. Also they were seeing and experiencing things even beyond their own mindset and exceptions which was unexplainable as well.

The secular researchers were not conclusive in their findings on this matter as they were not able to explain or pinpoint  how these people had experienced these things when it went beyond their  human capacity for experience or perception. I believe this then leaves the door open to discuss the realm of the supernatural.

So in venturing forward on this quest of life after death lets see what the bible says about hell. The word for “hell” is the Hebrew word “sheol” as found in the Old Testament. This word can be used broadly and can generally apply to the grave, pit, and the natural realm of physical degradation. It can also be used to describe the abode of the dead or a shadowy or obscure kind of  existence.

More specifically what I am interested in describing to you is not just the physical process of death which we pretty much understand  but the spiritual plane which based on these researchers is a reality that is just as real for those who have experienced these NDE’s.

The Old Testament does not give us many clues as compared to the New Testament record which makes it more definable and descriptive in the way of terms.

The prophet Daniel sets the stage for the concept of the after life in Daniel 12:2 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.

So this speaks of not just the afterlife but of the concept of the “physical resurrection” which is beyond the scope of this blog but was believed by Jews and Christians as evidenced by the ossuary boxes that you find in ancient Israel which would contain the bones of the deceased. The resurrection is to be the final act of salvation of which Jesus himself has already participated in as a type of first fruits from the dead. Somehow mysteriously these resurrected bodies will be apart of our fixture of being at a final point in the consummation of human  history which for the Christian is one of the concluding acts of redemption.

Anyway back to Daniel what begins to emerge here is the concept of “eternal” life versus “everlasting” contempt. It may be easy to visualize an eternal home of bliss but the rules must equally apply bilaterally with the synonymous words of eternal and everlasting otherwise this scripture becomes a contradiction of terms.

Under the old covenant economy the view for sheol is seen as a habitation of both the righteous and the ungodly that are held in a state of being with a chasm drawn between these two existence’s. One is referred to as Abraham’s bosom where the righteous dwell and the other is a place of torment. This is best displayed with the description Jesus gives to us in the gospel narratives which describes  to a limited extent these eternal holding places which we will discuss more about later.

We get some secondary clues from the OT/NT that show some indication of the afterlife as quoted by Jesus in Matthew 22:32 concerning Exodus 3:6  where God says that I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and Jesus concludes that He is the God of the living and not the dead which shows that there is a continued state of existence beyond the physical boundaries of this life.

Also in the Old Testament it refers to God gathering people to their fathers at the moment of death such as in 2kings 22:20.

We see the prophet Samuel as one who had come up from the ground to address Saul in 1Samuel 28:11-15

Also there are references to the “book of life” as those who will enter into eternal life and those who were not written or had been removed “blotted out”  which referred to eternal damnation. We see these references in both the Old and New Covenant passages such as found in Psalms 69:28, Exodus 32:33,  Phillipians 4:3, Revelation 3:5,13:8, 17:8, 20:12-15, 21:27.

Now the New Testament develops a fuller expression to the concept of hell and the righteous abode in which Jesus gives us a preview of these habitations as related to the story about the “Rich man and Lazarus” as found in Luke 16:19-31.

The rich man and Lazarus are dwelling in two conflicting environments with a gulf fixed between them as a barrier that could not be crossed. One location was contrasted with the other as it describes the rich man as being in torment, thirst, and in the agony of fire while Lazarus’ state of existence was a place of comfort.

Other descriptive words that Jesus and His apostles speak of when referring to hell, which according to the greek language of the New Testament would also include the use of the words hades or genna, are referred to in Matthew 3:12 as an unquenchable fire,  Mt 8:11 it describes outer darkness, weeping and gnashing of teeth, Matthew 13:42 it is a fiery furnace, Mt 18:8 eternal fire, 2 Thessalonians 1:9 as everlasting destruction, Rev 14:10-11 as the torment that rises for ever and ever, Revelation 19:20 depicts a fiery lake of burning sulfur and in Revelation 20:10 they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The concept of purgatory does not exist in any of the canonical books as recognized by Christians or Jews.

Nor does the bible speak of “reincarnation” as the scripture says that a man dies once and then he faces the  judgement Hebrews 9:27. Neither does the bible promote “soul sleep” which confuses the physical resurrection with the reality of a spiritual state at the moment of death 2 Corinthians 5:8 says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

These people in the NDE’s immediately went into a place or a presence as described as either heaven or hell rather than a state of nothingness and in addition to this they possessed a spirit type of body. Also these NDE’s say nothing about coming back in a reincarnated form either.

I think one of the main  problems we have in accepting the biblical references to Hell is that our God concept is mis-referenced. We reason that if there is a just God who is completely good then how can he allow people to suffer eternally which doesn’t seem logical or reasonable in making any kind of sense. Yet it is equally unbelievable to think of a person obtaining eternal life based on merely the mercy of God’s free gift of grace without merit in spite of our sinful but redeemed lives.

The original intent of this hellish habitation was to be an abode  for the Devil and his angels and it was never intended for human occupation but know it is given over to all of God’s avowed enemies in the afterlife Matthew 25:41. If God is unwilling to preserve the fallen angelic host, in which we are made a little lower than, then how will we fare if we rebel against God likewise.

If our personal goal to life is a Godless existence then shouldn’t we expect to get what we desire and shouldn’t this desire be consistent beyond the realm of  this life in experiencing the next.  Why should you want God to impose Himself on you in the sweet by and by when you don’t want his influence in the here and now.

One of the resounding themes off this semi-secular program on NDE’s is that you die like you live and I say that pretty much sums up the reality on the other side of the fence.

Satans domain is antithetical to  God’s rule. God is light and hell is darkness. Hell is sorrowful and in heaven sorrow is abolished. God is love while hell is full of hatred. In heaven there is peace while hell is filled with violence, suffering, and torment.

Its funny how we want the benefits of heaven without reciprocating thanks to Him as our creator Romans 1:21. Is God to be treated like a cosmic wh-re? Using Him for the benefit of our pleasure while avoiding the responsibility of a relationship or better yet maybe we feel God owes us one.

If a persons commitment here on planet earth is a Godless existence which is diametrically opposed  to God’s  heavenly rule and reign and presence then why should a person expect to have a heavenly outcome with a God that all of their lives they have purposely avoided. Why blame God for our own position and destination when we had a choice that was easily attainable.  In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

So what are these people like who will taste hell? Are they merely the dregs of society such as death row inmates, serial killers, rapists and pedophiles. Yes, but there is a much larger audience that  Jesus is addressing as  in Matthew 7:13,14 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it..

Rev 21:8 assigns hell to the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice the magic arts, the idolaters and all liars will have their place in the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 gives an another list of hells inhabitants stating;Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

In spite of our transgressions this seemingly paradoxical situation involving sin and judgment has now evolved to the beautiful side of redemption which counteracts the effects of  these vile and wicked actions which ultimately would have earned them a spot  in the confines of hell but now these people have been gloriously translated by means of God’s forgiveness and a changed lifestyle apart from there previous way of life.

If you feel you haven’t crossed over the property line as trespassing on God’s righteousness then perhaps  we ought to look where we are standing as in Romans 6:23.

Sin is not categorized in this scripture and therefore sin is a common denominator in the equation of life as there are none who are righteous which seems to be pretty much an inclusive and universal statement.

We often trivialize our transgressions and therefore we underestimate the consequences of sin to be less than serious and critical and though everyone else’s mountain of sin may seem to dwarf our small pile of “mistakes”  your little stack may be insurmountable according to yet another person’s standard of trivial “accidents”.

Whether it is a little sin or a major sin it still carries the title of sin. Whether you steal a penny or a dollar it doesn’t matter because you are still a thief. Whether you tell one lie or million you are still a liar. We try to diminish our guilt by comparing ourselves to others.

Finally no matter what we do to showoff our “meritorious deeds” before a Holy God, He is the Judge of the universe as one who discerns mens hearts and thoughts. You can never earn justification through your acts alone and the bible compares our righteousness deeds to menstrual cloths as spoken of in Isaiah 64:6. Our works will never be good enough to keep from polluting God’s heavenly existence and dwelling. God has two realms for sin. One is the unregenerate earth and the other is hell and unless you are cleansed from sin you will in no way be allowed to hang your dirty laundry in heaven.

I don’t mean this disrespectfully but Jesus didn’t just die for the “H-ll” of it. His purpose for His incarnated state was to represent man by dieing on our behalf in taking the guilt and penalty of sin. If  we could of achieved it on our own merit by earning heaven then Christ died needlessly Galatians 2:21. A deeper look to the offense of condemnation is not only in our violation of God through sin but by shunning God’s redemptive work of salvation in the Messiah by rejecting His Son John 3:18.

One of the greatest crimes of all is to wave before God our works as a “morsel” offering versus the complete and efficacious offering of Jesus which fully satisfies God’s righteous requirements for a sacrificial offering and anything less is obscene in the eyes of a Holy God.

Remember it only took one “small” act of disobedience in the Garden to bring in a “great” flood of evil upon all of mankind thus bringing a curse to  all men. So how has your transgressions measured up to Adam’s “slip”. Are your transgressions “supersized” or “insignificant” in comparison. You be the judge.

Now getting back to the question of hell. Many people when they don’t agree or like the biblical text then they associate the content of scripture as being metaphoric thus trying to avoid its difficult application.

Yet Jesus speaks of hell in such a dramatic fashion that  He uses a hyperbole in trying to communicate to others its reality which should be avoided at all costs even if it would mean the extremes of dismemberment Matthew 5:27-30.

Based on the context of this scripture many would not take this literally nevertheless this shows a literal severity and seriousness towards the outcome of a spiritual state of existence that is more traumatic than the critical loss of even our physical components. Jesus would not say this flippantly as if there were not a hellish reality.

Finally I realize “Hell” should not be the motivation towards obedience or submission but rather “Love”.

There should be a sense of holy fear or respect for God with a balanced sense of  loving admiration.

One of the best analogies I can give you is that God is like a heavenly parent who sacrifices His  own life for the benefit of the child and even though the child is governed through the hand of correction it is for their well being and development that the “God” parent administers these actions.

Yet extending above these hands are the loving arms of God who embraces you to protect you and give you security. The hand and the arm work together to properly train the child and if done right the child should never see God’s hand as the enemy but as a means of bringing them salvation as a warning to stop.

A child who fully loves and trusts his parent understands this relationship and takes heed when the hand of God is raised knowing that it is done so only by the loving arms that are bearing its weight.

We would think it a crime for a parent to just nonchalantly just watch their child run out in the street in front of an oncoming car without saying or doing a thing. Yet would you despise a God who is trying to get your attention by yelling and pleading for your eternal soul . Would you see it as merely the fear factor or manipulation when he cries out to you “STOP” there is danger ahead.

A child would not question the urgency or the tone of a parental voice of concern and yet when God warns us about Hell then how do we take or respond to His entreaty for us to  repent.

God is calling and actually he is screaming to get our attention sometimes. Will you listen and learn to trust Him for He is a loving Father?

At the end of the blog I have a place on how to have a relationship with God and it will describe to you in fundamental terms on how to be saved and commit your life to God. It is simple process but is very profound in scope and application and it will be life changing .

Trust me I did this over 20 years ago and I will never go back to living a lie for the devil.

What life will you choose after death? Will you choice life after death or death after life?

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord, Romans 6:23.

Religion is the source of all the trouble in the world

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

This is a well rehearsed myth that has been circulating around and yet it is unfounded. This saying  is posed with an agenda of removing God from the universe and leaving Him as dead by exposing the hypocrisy of the practitioners of religion .

The 20th century has been the bloodiest era on the planet and this has largely come through the hands of men who did not hold to a God-view . The likes of Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, Hirohito, and  Leopold 11 have reeked havoc on our society through genocide.

Atheistic communistic regimes have slaughtered over a 100 million people such as China 72 million, Soviet Union 20 million, Cambodia 2.3 million, North Korea 2 million, Africa 1.7 million, Afghanistan 1.5 million, Vietnam 1 million, Eastern Europe 1 million, and Latin America 150,000.

When a world view does not see any distinction between themselves and a higher power, than “might becomes right”. When there is no accountability and no sense of value or worth that is attributed to mankind then men position themselves as a “god” by establishing their own rules of right and wrong.

When mankind is viewed as having no ultimate purpose or value and humanity is seen as vanity on the plane of human existence then the evolutionary process of the “survival of the fittest” leads the way to ultimate truth.

This viewpoint of human life supports a sense of relativity based on the goals, agenda, and immediate needs of the powers to be which usually leaves people in a wake of destruction.

However, it is mainly the  Judeo-Christian view that takes an opposing position regarding the sanctity of human life and mankind. The bible describes men as  being made in the image of God which beckons for the rights of mankind’s preservation.

Many people want Judeo-Christian values but they don’t want to be governed or influenced by the God who values them as individuals.  This is a paradox and unless men surrender their hearts to God it could lead to the extinction of human society, that is if it would be left to itself without the transcendent power of a God who sovereignly preserves it.

Also there are hate religions that are responsible for killing others whether it is radical Islam, Hindu nationalists, Buddhist extremists, etc. Any religion that defines it existence based on the need to kill should be a warning sign to stay clear of its influence. Even sects of so called Christians that have shed blood in defiance to Jesus and have submitted their lives to  the organized religion of men are considered heretics and false or counterfeit believers.

Jesus warns about those who take the name but not the cross, which for the believer would mean to lay down their lives for the service of Him and others. The cross of the crusaders should of never been used as a sword and Jesus even pushes the viewpoint of God’s position towards violence or violating others with the concept that we are to even love our enemies.  This may seem like a ridiculous position at first until we come to realize that God loved us while we were yet His enemies.

So in Luke 6:27-36 Jesus speaks these words regarding loving our enemies:

27 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners,’ expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

It is a self evident witness to the consciousness of men regarding the aspect of sustaining life and when any philosophy or religion displaces the value of men as common trash then this becomes a contradiction and a inconsistency towards a God who gives life to humanity.

Though death is inevitable, are we born to live or die? Your world view may say different but God has given us a clue to human responsibility just through the care and nurture of our parents who once assisted us in our state of helplessness as infants . God has given us the gift of parental stewards in order to maintain a sense of security and protection which wasn’t meant to stop at the moment the child is weaned from mom and dad. God loves people and his conservation of humanity is the highest goal or achievement to His created order.

Though God has judged humanity at different times it was only as a means of upholding justice and protecting life based on actions  towards Him and others rather than carelessly and needlessly wiping people off the face of the world for no apparent cause or reason. Through His judgment God is upholding the values of societies victims.

After all how can a judge be considered “good” if he merely dismisses every case because He is loving and forgiving and doesn’t want to hurt anybody. Where does that leave the victims of these crimes? Where is their mercy? The judge knows that people aren’t just reformed through a judicial pardon and that there is a personal cost involved that necessitates judgement in order to protect lives and to maintain order.

Yet in the court’s of heaven there is a tension regarding God concerning His justice and mercy which is ultimately defined in the person and work of Jesus.

Gods passion for the world is “love” which He extends to us through Jesus who himself was tortured by evil men even though He was innocent. His sacrificial life towards us was a way for us to be forgiven from the hostilities of which I speak because we are all guilty of perpetrating crimes on humanity even if it was not at the level of these wicked geniuses.

We recognize this idea of sacrifice when we see the human “hero” of courage who takes the stage on the scene of life in disregarding his own safety and well being for the sake of others and yet this is exactly what God has done for us on a universal scale. However, I realize that even if we are  forgiven in the counsel of God’s court we may still have to face the consequences and responsibilities of our crimes to humanity here on this earth.

Anyway how God accomplishes this work of redemption is that He enters our lives miraculously when we receive Him as Savior through the forgiveness of sins and Lord as we submit to His rule and reign over our hearts and lives.

Upon receiving Him, He now regenerates us by taking our heart of stone and gives us a heart of flesh. This transformation changes our inward being and nature which the bible  describes as being “born again.”

This new state of being  leads us to be reconciled to God and to one another. This  benefit helps us to regain lost relationships by stopping the needless and pointless destruction of human lives and hostility towards our Creator .

Lastly this concept of “life” is best illustrated and summed up by the words of Jesus in John 3:16 that says:

16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,f that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Is God Unknowable?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

The Bible depicts the Apostle Paul as making a defense on Mars Hill to the Athenians who were a religious brood of philosophers with varying beliefs.

During Paul’s stay in Greece he took notice of an altar that was dedicated to the “Unknown God.”

He used this very platform as an opportunity to begin his exposition to these Stoics and Epicureans who were questioning these novel ideas of Paul which seemed to advocate to them a foreign god.

Paul’s approach in gaining a hearing among these intellectuals was to share with them the revelation of this God who was unbeknown to them but was in reality “Knowable”.

This is one of the premises against agnosticism which assumes a philosophical reality about God because of a lack of experiential knowledge and concludes by making a transcendent claim concerning having no knowledge of God.

This absolute sense of agnosticism denies any possibility to having an understanding of God and yet this position can not be substantiated because of the finitude of the creature and his inability to attain perfect knowledge concerning the reality of God as being “Unknowable”.

The irony behind such a position is that in order to make a statement of reality about God this would presuppose a knowledge concerning the one who is defined as being “Unknowable”.

This is a parallel position to the dilemma of the Atheist who like the Agnostic is not a perfectly comprehensive being because of the lack of absolute knowledge and therefore the existence and belief in or knowability of God becomes plausible.

To say that God does not exist or that God is not knowable are statements that are reduced to positions of belief and faith which we as theists have been criticized for. Minimally a person can only really claim that they possess a limited or restricted view of God and I believe that this is the only logical outcome to this equation.

In conjunction with this viewpoint the bible supports this concept by making a reference to this idea concerning a general revelation about God and yet this has been tampered with by the spirit of this age in adulterating or diluting its message by the modern philosophical advancements of evolutionary theory.

In spite of this God’s handiwork is to be observed as being the necessary agent and the original cause to the effect of creation. This created order is dynamically placed on display both night and day as seen through the receptacles of the optic nerve. This magnificence and awesome splendor can be plainly viewed and observed as a portrayal of intelligent design that meticulously defines the presence of fine tuning of which is  communicated and understood as a universal language as referred to in Psalms 19.

In addition to this, Romans 1 and 2 also gives us a snapshot view of both the realities of creation coupled with the universality of morality and conscious of which mankind is innately hardwired for, and even if this has been challenged by the philosophical advent of relativism, these moral laws still have an effect on the tender young lives of humanity and the societies of which mankind rules or reigns.

In conclusion a general revelation beckons to the call in obtaining and securing a special revelation which is tangible to a personal reality of ultimate truth.

As a starting point to truth the scripture encourages us in Deuteronomy 4:29 to seek the Lord with all of our heart and with all our soul and we will find Him. In this regard we must be a genuine seeker otherwise we may find ourselves entangled within the web of counterfeit religions, cults, and a worldly system of philosophy which competes for the allegiance and the worship of men who need to connect with the divine.

Finally whatever beliefs you securely hold to as being sacred to your person I would ask for you to take a reevaluation of your position with an attitude of introspection in seeing what  is the true goal or motivation behind your core set of beliefs regarding the God concept.

Perhaps what is really unknowable to you is the deception of the heart which only knows what it wants to know.

In closing one man who I approached concerning this matter was honest enough concerning his position on God to finally yield an answer which I believe showed a degree of integrity through his admission of guilt of which he simply stated that he wasn’t ready or really willing to consider the possibilities of a God.

Does hedonism promote happiness?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Our culture says that if it feels good just do it. Hedonism encapsulates the very concept of this saying and packages it in a consumer driven fantasy world of selling pleasure as a means to achieving success or fulfillment.

One of the means of living this compulsion driven lifestyle is through the avenue of materialism. We have a saying in America that the one who has the most toys wins. Therefore a mans value and pursuits are fixated on the accumulation of stuff and wealth.

This philosophy also pursues other realms of experiential and sensual excesses which manifests itself in every facet of daily living.

We see the trademarks of its presence in other sectors as well such as work, sex, drugs, recreation, materialism, knowledge or whatever else a person can participate in that gives them the euphoria of pleasure while minimizing or avoiding pain.

Pain to the hedonist is an enemy to avoid and yet by living in this world it is impossible to avoid suffering and therefore by striving to avoid the inevitable by maximizing pleasure this only leads into a form of escapism which has no basis in reality.

Pain may be delayed but it is never denied and sooner or latter it catches up with all of us regardless of our endeavor to stay head of this grim reaper.

One destructive component to the philosophy of hedonism is the crass demonstration of victimizing others in order to achieve its goals.

Pure selfishness is the root of this spirit which elevates ones self to the position of a god that is to be served by the whims of its lustful yearnings.

We have such sayings as look out for #1 or nice guys finish last. Its always about competing to get whatever you desire regardless of the cost to society.

Yet a cost is always lurking around the corner as it was with the proverbial forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden which was to satisfy the cravings of sinful man ,the lust of the eyes, and the boasting of what one has or does.

This cost would ultimately be defined in bringing about the death sentence to creation resulting in a separation from God.

This cost is experienced on a very real and personal basis in our society today. We have seen lottery winners gain it all then lose it all, sexual prowess develops into sexually transmitted diseases or aids, obsessed career driven people become burned out earning for themselves the title “workaholic” only to one day find themselves retired or jobless, people looking for a “high”  and becoming drug addicts of which they are mastered and controlled  by a substance which only leads them to be more dependent upon higher dosages in order to obtain the same “fix” or effect.

This is the real crux to the whole matter anyway in which a person is striving for more and more novel experiences in order to satisfy the continual hunger pangs of these addictive cravings which instead of meals these experiences become no more than  appetizers which only leaves oneself hungry for the main course of “desire.”

In reality it becomes a chasing your tale or a chasing  after the wind which either leaves a person frustrated if they do not reach their goals or bored if they do.

Happiness is only momentarily achieved and it is often dependent upon circumstances. We value its intoxicating qualities by funneling and chugging its contents hoping to obtain or achieve the ultimate Miller definition of the “high life” the ultimate “buzz” of living yet we are only left too find out that just a few short hours away lies the reality of the pain which awakens us with the sobering effects of a hangover.

Do we learn though? No, and they get back on the “wagon” because this is the only trail they know and it  has left such a deep rut that they can’t break free from its pattern or course.

Happiness is a fleeting substance though obtained intermittently it is never fully apprehended or satisfied. It will will take you for a roller coaster ride only to be abruptly halted at the end of its circuit of ups and downs . Yet this endless ride of life leaves us rushing to get back in line once again only to relive a short term experience of exhilaration through this repetitious cycle of life.

So where does this madness end in going from one joy ride to another regarding this quest for the ultimate adventure? Unfortunately for many it never ends until the ride is fully terminated. This may sound dismal but there is hope beyond the amusement park of life.

The end result of Hedonism is self defeating yet we live a life that is gullible to its deceptive hold. Our lives were never created to find its reality in pleasure seeking but in the sustainable inner qualities of peace, love, and joy which are enduring.

These sources can not be found in the world’s system and any comparison in obtaining a counterfeit lifestyle to these qualities apart from God is purely synthetic.

Joy in God’s economy is defined as an inner disposition which is tangible during moments of great difficulty, trials or pain. Peace is a calm in the midst of the storm. Love  is an overflow which can not be contained.

In Christ we can have joy unspeakable and full of glory. We can obtain the peace of God that  surpasses all understanding.

In summary to hedonism  the “Preacher” of Ecclesiastes sought to unbridle all restraints in indulging his fleshly desires in full  pursuit of overtaking human achievement and pleasure. He had all the means he needed to achieve his ends and in view of all his time and effort under the sun of humanity his final analysis became his opening line to the book which states vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

We see this ring true even in our own day and age where the likes of the rich and famous crash and burn and yet these are the very lifestyles hedonism seems to promote and like the serpent in the midst of the garden it is all a lie or at best a half truth which masquerades itself as the ideology of “Self Fulfillment.”

We are privileged as Americans to have all the benefits and luxuries that a modern society can offer and we have more in the 21st century than 99% of what others have  had over the course of human history and still we have psych wards, prisons, and our medical staff are catering to the needs of a over-medicated population. So much for the pursuit of happiness on this evolutionary scale of existence.

I am convinced that happiness cannot be achieved through the  pursuit of unadulterated  selfish gratification.

Some people fall of the wagon early in life because they have a fatalistic viewpoint to their inability of not being able to obtain their dreams of happiness and death to them seems to be a reasonable option in escaping the pain of living life.

Others fall off only to get back on singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow” and thinking that the wagon will finally drive them towards the destination of their dreams.

This life within the realm of “happiness” promises so much but in the end it leaves you lonely, empty, and bankrupt and those who say otherwise are like the addict who is in denial and has developed a  codependency with the god of Hedonism.

In conclusion the writer of Ecclesiastes  after experiencing every man made indulgence took inventory of the whole matter and issued a enlightened statement  to fear God and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment including every hidden thing whether it is good or evil.

This man through his life was by definition the embodiment of wisdom having experienced the grandeur of human existence.

Will  you heed the call of the “Preacher” in his wisdom or will you be entertained through the songs of fools who sing to the melody of eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die. Even if we succeed in achieving a degree of happiness through the expression of our transgressions the scripture finally warns us that the pleasures of sin is only for a season and yet the flip side to this equation is that when a person receives the riches of God’s grace in the “Now” they can obtain something of great worth which will last throughout all eternity.

Is God a murderer

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

I suppose if He is God and that was His prerogative then who are we to question His reality based on His response or our understanding of His response to the treatment of humanity.

He is the potter and we are the clay. What right or power do we have to question the one who fashions the clay for His divine purpose.

Job who endured great suffering questioned God’s character and the Lord Himself responded in calling Job to answer all the great mystery’s in life. Yet he was left speechless when he realized the enormity and awesome power and presence of God’s glorious being.

However, God’s sovereignty does not end with God acting arbitrarily or indifferently towards His creation. His character is perfectly righteous and just. He is a good God whose basic definition is love.

It is a contradiction of His character for this loving God to create life for the sole purpose of destruction without a just cause or purpose.

It’s at this point that their is a divergence in thought on how we relate to justify life and how God views his right to execute judgment as the supreme magistrate of the universe.

Many times when we read the biblical text, especially in the Old Testament, we see that there were whole communities that were destroyed and swept away under God’s directive such as the Flood,Sodom and Gomorrah, plagues of Egypt, and the Israeli occupation of Canaan, foreign occupation of Israel, and finally the future apocalyptical judgement of God or the “Day of the Lord.”

This may see ironic until you begin to look at the circumstantial evidence underlying these situations. Sometimes the effect overshadows the cause because of its finality.

Yet when God made man he was created in the image of God and declared good. Mankind as an expression of his humanity was given the capacity to be a free moral agent through the exercise of the will. This freedom gave opportunity for our chief and perfect representative, namely Adam, the ability to declare his rule as a self imposed god therefore eliminating God’s theocratic rule and reign over his life.

Adam elevated his purposes above the creator therefore making himself out to be a god in establishing his own criteria for existence. Instead of mankind giving gratitude and worship to the creator he now sees God as a competitor to his own personal goals, desires, and agenda therefore surpassing the  boundaries of God’s righteous economy and transgressing the role and relationship as creature/creator.

Adam as our earthly ancestor and therefore the progenitor of the human race has yielded a repeat production among his offspring who have added to the sinful folly of mankind and his endeavor to impose the will of “self.”

How we see this practically is not only in how we relate to God but on how we treat each other. If we were to look at just the ten commandments alone we would all sense our violation to both God and our human counterparts.

Jesus himself summed up this law by stating  “love the Lord your God with all of your heart soul, mind, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.”

We dishonor God by not acknowledging Him and by using His name as an opportunity to pronounce a curse or by substituting Him with false religion or alternative philosophies.

We violate others when we dishonor our parents, when we murder or wrongfully take another life which Jesus equates to being angry with our brother (if God is a murderer then he is a hypocrite to his own rules and laws), committing adultery which Jesus corresponds with looking lustfully at another person as if to possess them sexually, stealing, bearing false testimony which is a contemptuous expression of slander and malignancy, and to covet another one’s property or spouse which leads us into a state of ingratitude towards God for our personal provision. Amazingly this last sin, which is an attitude of the heart, can lead to violating many of the other previously mentioned commandments.

Mankind stands guilty before the heavenly court since we have all violated to some degree or another these basic elements of law. These laws have also served to guide many of our world courts regarding the sanctity of life through the rendering of this general prudence.

We as humans are innately hardwired by God to have a conscious in knowing that life is to be valued which should lead us into another question of asking ourselves who created this moral aptitude. It was programmed  by God as an evidence of His existence as being the originator of the universe through intelligent design versus us being unattached to our universe by some kind of haphazard cosmic accident of chance. So it serves not only to awaken the reality of conscious towards a creator but it also confirms to us a relational and moral responsibility towards His person with the end result of being either justified or condemned .

Sometimes we treat sin flippantly and what seems trivial or relative to us is really an extreme and hostile violation as well as an affront to God’s person. Sin isn’t merely just missing the mark but rather it is being completely off target to the holy will of God.

God’s temporal punishment for sin on earth was regulated to the severity of the violation or crime and this is only a precursor and reminder to the future impending and eternal judgment of God of which we are all found guilty. Even our conscious bears witness to this by feeling guilt and shame because fear has to do with judgment. That is why on that day of judgment that ever mouth will be silent as God will have no accusers as we stand  before the divine judge of the universe as He states His case for our guilt.

Though I have stated and emphasized God’s arm of  justice I have neglected to speak of His tender  hands of mercy which He extends to men who have violated Him as an enemy.

God gives mankind the opportunity to repent by changing the course of their action through a heart felt expression of contrition over their willful acts of disobedience towards the one who has given them the privilege of drawing the precious gift of breath in the sustenance of life.

1 Peter 3:20 says that God waited patiently during the 120 year duration that the ark was being constructed, giving them ample opportunity to repent. Yet God saw that mankind’s heart was continually bent on evil continually and was grieved that He had even created them.

Abraham bargained with God concerning the outcome of Sodom and Gomorrah of which God was unwilling to destroy if there were enough righteous to preserve its existence. Yet the stench of sin was so foul and the lack of righteousness was so insignificant that all God could do was to save a remnant or a  few righteous souls that were living in the midst of this evil and corrupt society. These vial, crude, and obstinate acts of sin called for drastic measures of destruction because of the evil of exploiting others. Instead of enjoying the God given gift of intimacy with a beloved spouse these inhabitants  had unnatural, unbridled, and unrestrained sexual appetites whose sole purpose was a deviancy in sexual gratification.

“The Exodus” and the plagues on Egypt resulted in part because of the genocide committed against the Hebrew male children and the harsh labor laws of the Egyptians.

I think that one of the greatest and most memorable acts of complete destruction is when the Israelites invaded the landscape of Canaan and completely annihilating every living thing in sight.

Yet when referring to the Canaanites in Genesis 15:16 it says that the sin of the Amorites was not yet complete. In other words, God gave them 400 years to repent before exacting judgment on this land and these people.

There were also other variables that played into this scenario likewise. He was calling Israel as a covenant people out of Egypt into a promised land whereby they were to occupy but only after the original landholders violated their plot of land as tenants. The reason why they were removed was so they would not pollute or violate God’s covenant community through intermarriage of which would draw the people away into serving false gods and violating His holy seed.

Eventually this move would lead to their own demise likewise because they were unable to dispossess the land of its people and idolatries and therefore it vomited and purged them out as well which was done by the hands of the enemies of Israel.

God is just and is not a respecter of persons. After all, when Israel joined themselves in covenant with God they took an oath of blessing and curse of which unfortunately they became the benefactor of the latter.

Yet all along He sent his prophets to warn them and get the people to turn their hearts back to God.

God has given us these events as examples and reminders concerning His disciplinary actions as a warning concerning His future and final judgment of which all mankind will be judged. He has not only sent His prophets but now He has sent the “Messiah” His Son to seek and save those that are lost in sparing us from the gavel of God’s judgment by declaring us innocent.

God’s care for mankind has culminated in a universal and merciful provision of redemption through God’s prevailing grace.

However, God’s action of justice would not be forfeited but rather applied and satisfied through the execution of His Son Jesus who would bear our sin, shame, and guilt therefore preserving our lives from eternal destruction in fulfilling God’s plan of preserving humanity of which He states that His desire is that none should perish but that all should have everlasting life.

We are quick to see His judgments an slow to learn of His salvation. We put more value in human life and freedom than we give to the author of life.

Jesus life was demonstrated with great love for mankind. The scripture tell us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. He taught us to love our enemies and to turn the other cheek. Most of what we call humanitarian acts are often inspired as a result of the life of Jesus and the Bible.

So how can we possibly confuse the motive of God. Do we think that because God is good that he cant also be just in punishing violators?

I would  like to give an example of this through the human agency of law. Imagine you know a judge that  is confronted with someone who trespasses a law, of which was meant to protect innocent victims, and instead of prosecuting him the judge just lets him go.  Where then is the justice in this ruling and how about the preservation of the innocent who are the victims of this crime and how are they to be equally represented.  What kind of judge would do such a thing? Is this action representative of one who would be regarded as good or evil? You be the judge? A good judge is not just letting every violator go free who has not upheld the law but he is seen as being good only if He upholds the penalty of law.

God was so determined in His judgements that He exacted the full measure of His judgment through a fatal blow of justice on His innocent and guiltless Son who acted on  behalf of humanity as a new “Adam.” Had it not been for this act of benevolence then all mankind would of stood guilty before a holy God. Jesus is our defense, having stepped in and took our rightful place under the judgment of God’s justice of which we would have otherwise have all been condemned.

This gift of God’s grace  does not release mankind from the due responsibility of temporal punishment resulting in consequences for the crime of sin committed during this dispensation. For instance, if you committed a felony you will still have to undergo the penalty for your actions as determined by the society in which you have transgressed. However, this action will not serve as an eternal or mortal transgression, which would completely cut oneself off from the presence of God, unless one rejects the provision of God’s redemption.

This may seem ironic how that God can penalize the innocent while acquitting  the guilty but where would we be without this substitutionary act . What hope would we have unless somebody would come to our defense and plea bargain our case to the one who has the power to condemn or preserve life. We all can sight examples of people who have payed with their precious life blood to help others but what about God who was willing to go the extra mile in giving a life towards those who did not deserve his representation. This phenomena is the prevailing act of mercy of which God having seen the thoughts and intents of the heart and is confronted with the sincerity of a repentant heart who out of humility and brokenness sees his true spiritual state reaches out for clemency by taking hold of the mercy seat of God in obtaining favor because another posted our bond of freedom not just temporarily releasing us from justice but perpetually granting us release from death row.

Therefore it is only those who do not believe in the Son who stand condemned already because they have not trusted in God’s redemptive provision. Those who have not placed their reliance in the deeds of the Messiah must stand alone before God without representation or counsel and they will not be found guiltless because all men sin.

Lastly I would like to conclude with a well know bible story concerning Jonah. Many just remember this story from their childhood as the unfortunate soul who was swallowed up by a large fish and yet their is much more that we can learn from this story line.

Jonah was a prophet and his job was to forewarn people of God’s judgment which included a redemptive twist of calling nations and individuals into repentance which would ultimately result in a restoration of peace with God.

This isn’t always such a fun job considering you have to confront sin hardened people and the health benefits were sometimes terrible as they would often put themselves into perilous conditions.

Jonah was an Israelite and he was told to go to Nineveh, of which he despised as a gentile or a foreign nation. In the process He is determined to run away from His prophetic responsibilities by taking a small detour to Tarshish. At this point God counters and intercepts Him with a belly of a fish which in turns puts him back on course to Nineveh.

The greatness of this story happens after all of this drama occurred. Why do you suppose Jonah was dragging his feet? Was it because He didn’t want the unpopular task of speaking out in judgment over these people? No, it was because He knew that if they repented that God was a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity, Jonah 4:2.

Jonah didn’t like how God had let the Ninevites of the hook much like how some people may protest  God’s provision of grace through Jesus. God’s final answer to Jonah concerning this matter was a sovereign statement  questioning him on what right he had to be angry over this  act of mercy. Remember we are all sinners in need of God’s mercy and therefore we shouldn’t despise his graciousness towards others, after all you may be one of those others. Jesus summed up the situation by stating  “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.”

Finally some philosophers have perpetrated the “death of God” movement and now we have a godless society. So who is the murderer?

Is it God or is it the unrightful hostility of others who are denying the living and loving reality of our creator?

If today you hear his voice do not harden your heart but rather submit to Him and may  His kindness lead you to repentance.

God is a crutch

Monday, August 17th, 2009

This is a common emotional objection to the existence of God which does nothing to challenge the truth claims of his person.

We need jobs, vehicles, banks, doctors, hospitals, utilities, etc. During times of crisis we often turn to counselors and psychologists, support groups, medication, and families to deal with the normal traumas of life. We are a society that is interdependent. So how does that differ from the God concept? The only difference I can see is what you want to classify as god.

We have a codependency with our culture which is inseparable to our existence and life.

Our problem is that we can go through life proclaiming our independence not realizing that all along that we are just hobbling through life as mere mortals who have definable limits to our existence and reality.

Much of this revelation comes when we are faced in confronting the foxholes of life and the death bed experiences which gives us a reality check.

This reality whether realized now or not has led some of  us to figure it out before the inevitable.

Abortion is Murder

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Normally I do not blog on moral issues directly because I believe in reform through a born again experience versus attempting to legislate righteousness through institutional intervention. Yet I realize the necessity for institution and I do thank God for its influence on Godless societies, however reforming should be left to a higher power. The bottom line is that changed people lead to changed behavior.

Abortion is one of those behaviors that is on the same level of evil as men who have killed because of their own political agenda. We have seen the atrocities committed by the evil genius of Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Hitler, and Stalin just to name a few. We are appalled when we see the photographic and physical evidence of these images displayed and we say in our hearts never again and yet people are offended when offered graphic images regarding abortion procedures. If we close our eyes and pretend it doesn’t exist or we distance ourselves making it less than real does this self induced deception rid our conscious from the ability and conviction to act?

Couple this with a anti-God philosophy, which would see a naturalistic viewpoint to mankind as being merely biological matter, and then you have incapacitated the mind to think critically thus eliminating the concern regarding the taking of an innocent life.

When this action is exercised on a personal level it usually serves the purpose of selfishness by eliminating any kind of responsibility based on a lack of convenience. The person assumes godhood in being able to make a whimsical decision based on the  unfortunate circumstance of their pregnancy and this is worse than the action taken by a death row executioner who is at least acting on behalf of justice.

It seems ironic that irresponsibility was what usually led a person into this situation and yet now society expects them to take responsibility in disposing of the situation through a procedure. If people would have planned responsibly for parenthood to begin with then they wouldn’t of  needed to consult Planned Parenthood in their irresponsibility. Planned Parenthood is responsible for most abortions in the US and they post their advertisements on bulletin boards along the highways of life because they see these unborn children as no more than just plain road kill.

Not only does abortion facilitate or assist our personal goals or agenda but it also serves the need on both a national and worldwide scale by limiting the burden of society through population control. The government does not want to give rights to the unborn and that is why abortion is encouraged. It only costs about 400 dollars in the US for an abortion but its costs 5 to 40 thousand to adopt. Abortion seems to be a win win situation except for the incapacitated soul that does not have a audible voice but whose blood screams out from the ground.

This genocide can pass around the human courts of law who can prosecute  insignificant misdemeanors such as jaywalking yet they see no value in protecting the lives of innocent victims and therefore the role of the justice system has been reversed in  upholding the rights of criminals by protecting those who through their premeditated acts of violence are released from all responsibility and found not guilty in the perpetration of such crimes.

We call it a crime when a girl throws her baby in a dumpster but as long the unborn is left intact behind the confines of a thin layer of membrane of the uterine wall then it now becomes sanctioned to dump the unborn in the surgical dumpster of the clinic where the life is now treated as no more than an unwanted skin tag.

The Holocaust was one of the greatest tragedies of this century were millions were killed yet based on worldwide statistics in 1996 alone there were about 46 million abortions worldwide of which 1,365,700 were conducted in the US. Many more victims than the holocaust.

When I first visited the holocaust memorial Yad Vashem and saw the pictures of the piles of clothing, shoes, and  spectacles you are at least left with a real life image of the crime but in an abortion procedure there are no remains left except for the women who are later traumatized by their actions of which no counseling session can adequately remove the blood guilt that is upon their consciousness leaving them with a sense of hopelessness and despair.

The holocaust has ended, except for its painful memories, but for the unborn it is a perpetual death camp. We know that the bodies of the Jewish people were disposed of by the furnaces of Auschwitz and yet these crematoriums are still in operation today reducing these unborn infants to ashes.

As a means of experimentation Jews were often used as guinea pigs by under going various operations and testing. This is no different today whereby the unborn is reduced to medical exploitation where there remains are used for the benefits of face cream or the selling of body parts. Is this any different then using the skin of a Jewish corpses in order to make human lampshades? Again lives are taken and used to benefit the comfort of others.

To think that in the US alone that there are 3,742 abortions a day which on average is  about 156 deaths an hour is unthinkable.

We pride ourselves as Americans in protecting the rights of others through our military   and humanitarian endeavors yet it is a oxymoron to accept the human sacrifice of the unborn by refusing the rights of these potential Americans who are our own flesh and blood .

We are overly preoccupied with more frivolous causes such as tree hugging and saving the whales and yet are we unconcerned over the precious life of an unborn child? We treat our dogs better than that. We might find it hard to take “Rover” to a veterinarian to put him down and yet we have no problem or remorse in deciding the fate of the unborn.

Also we rationalize the necessity for abortion through the what if’s of life as if that somehow legitimizes abortion by stating ever imagined scenario. The logic is that if you can justify it in one situation then all other cases become more easily absolved.

In killing the unborn we as a culture selectively are choosing to exterminate the human race. We treat the unborn life like a infestation of rats and cockroaches which we can not cohabit with. Perhaps next time it will be your turn if society sees you as a detriment instead of an asset.

Who knows maybe one day euthanasia will be required on our elderly population after all it is already being legally practiced now. The elderly are seen as a growing minority group because people are living longer by means of the advancement of our medical technology but in turn it is costing society money to allow grandma and grandpa to live a little longer. Population control might at some point in time involve the elderly which are viewed as losing their productiveness  to society and therefore it may seem justifiable to rid ourselves from this inconvenience.

The problem is that when people are reduced to being no more than flesh and bones and the firing of neurons then any life can be at risk if the needs or the philosophy of the community is somehow threatened.

This system of genocide has been made acceptable because we chose not to look at the reality behind the images of aborted or starving children. We dull our senses through the entertainment  industry which has desensitized us by means of violence to having a loss of respect regarding human life.

This legislation to preserve life has been mismanaged and much like the Jews of Germany’s holocaust who were refused entry into American ports we too have turned away the rights of others to enter through the safe harbor of the womb allowing them the sanctity of life .

In closing if you have committed abortion and though it has been overlooked by society and the earthly courts it has not gone unnoticed and accounted for by the heavenly courts in which you are guilty of murder. For the individual who recognizes this sin and a need for repentance and restoration to God  there is hope. God within his capacity as a sovereign has provided a way that you can have forgiveness even from the taking of human life. God is merciful and long suffering and only He can remove the guilt that has resulted from your wrongful actions.

What are the chances for life on this planet?

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Is life a product of chance? A random act or a cosmic accident? Have you ever wondered about the complexities about life in which humans, who tip the evolutionary scale, are only now beginning to discover? Do you find it fascinating given all the technological advances of man that they can only reorder, mimic and manipulate life? I’ve not seen a scientist yet make a cow from scratch.

Somehow have we become so sophisticated that we limit our beliefs to think that through the gigantic test tube of planet earth that somehow science and nature has created us from a state of nothingness which then resulted in evolving us into the complexity of structures whereby we exist?

What do you think is the potential for life to just appear on its own and then somehow evolve and sustain itself? I  don’t believe there is a numerical value high enough to support this possibility.

It would be like taking a disassembled clock throwing it into a tumbler and expecting it to come out perfectly assembled while keeping the right time. Or it would be like randomly wandering into a junk yard and taking an untrained or unskilled laborer and asking him to assemble and fly a fully functional plane from the remnants left over from your trash receptacle.

If you are struggling to conceptualize this idea then let me up the anny again by giving you the same scenarios but this time they are not provided any raw materials but are still expected to produce the same results. I’m sure by now you have made a firm decision in stating the inevitable that this is impossible and with that logic I would concur.

I believe in a intelligent design model which supports a creator, namely God, who best fits the criteria as the first and sustaining cause for creation.

An Atheist has Faith

Monday, May 25th, 2009

An Atheist has enough faith to believe his or hers own philosophy without the assurance of absolute knowledge and truth. Atheism is as much a religion as any other worldview.

An Atheist can exercise faith in all kinds of things that are beyond his understanding and control such as the weather forecasts, newspapers, car brakes, history books, medical journals, and elevators. Yet elevators can let us down, history books can be wrong, and planes can crash.

The Atheist may seem to be making a case based strictly on  intellectual objections yet this may only be a veneer which is merely hiding a moral obligation  to God and his rule and reign over his or hers own life.

Atheists Do Not Exist

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

There may be people who make claims to rejecting the existence of God yet this position is impossible to verify an cannot be validated. Not believing in something  does not prove its nonexistence but rather it is merely a belief system. In order to make an exclusive claim that God does not exist it would take an  all-powerful being who contains all-knowledge and has surveyed ever square inch of the universe. To make a clear case that  God does not exist and present it as an absolute truth would be a determined state of psychosis.
